Cookie and storage policy

InstallPass uses only the browser storage needed to run the site, plus privacy-friendly analytics to understand how pages are used. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Effective 15 September 2026

1. About this policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage used on https://installpass.com and in the InstallPass app, including public passport pages. InstallPass is operated by InstallPass, trading as InstallPass.

In short:

  • we use essential storage to keep you signed in and remember basic settings;
  • we use privacy-friendly analytics to count page views and understand how our pages are used; and
  • we don't use advertising cookies, and we don't sell browsing information.

Please read this policy together with our Privacy policy.

2. What cookies and browser storage are

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser, so that it can recognise your browser or remember information between pages or visits.

Local storage and session storage are similar browser features that let a website save information on your device. Information in local storage stays until it is removed by the website or cleared by you. Session storage is cleared when you close the browser tab.

Storage can be "first-party" (set by the website you are visiting) or "third-party" (set by another service used on the page). In this policy, "storage" refers to cookies and all of these similar technologies.

3. Essential storage

Essential storage is needed for InstallPass to work properly. We use it for:

  • Sign-in: when you sign in, a sign-in token is saved in your browser's local storage so that you stay signed in between pages and visits. We remove it when you sign out.
  • Security and navigation: short-lived information that helps protect your account and returns you to the page you were on after you sign in.
  • Preferences: basic choices you make in the app, so that you don't have to set them again on every visit.

We use essential storage because it is necessary to provide the service you have asked for. You can block or clear it in your browser, but you may not be able to sign in or use some features if you do.

4. Usage analytics

We use privacy-friendly analytics to understand how our website and app are used. This covers things like which pages are viewed, when, the referring page, and general technical information such as browser and device type.

We use this information to see which pages are helpful, find and fix problems, and improve InstallPass. Analytics reports are aggregated. We don't use analytics to build advertising profiles or to track you across other websites, and we don't sell analytics data.

Analytics may rely on a pseudonymous identifier stored in your browser or derived from technical information, and it may be processed by our analytics or hosting provider on our behalf. We use analytics based on our legitimate interest in running and improving our service. You can limit analytics using the browser controls described in section 7.

5. No advertising or cross-site tracking

We don't use:

  • advertising or retargeting cookies;
  • social media advertising pixels or similar trackers; or
  • storage designed to track you across other websites.

We don't sell or share browsing information with advertisers. If this ever changes, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

6. Third-party content and services

Some pages load content or services from other companies. When this happens, your browser connects directly to their servers, and they may log your IP address and browser information, or set their own storage:

  • Fonts: we may load web fonts from services such as Google Fonts.
  • Images and files: some images, photos and documents are served from third-party content delivery networks (CDNs) or storage providers.
  • Payments: when you pay for a subscription or tag pack, our payment provider (currently Paystack) may use its own cookies on its checkout pages, for example for security and fraud prevention.
  • Links: other websites we link to have their own cookie and privacy policies.

We don't control storage set or information logged by these third parties. Please see their privacy policies for more information.

7. How to control and clear storage

You can control browser storage in several ways:

  • Sign out of InstallPass to remove your sign-in token.
  • Clear site data in your browser settings. Most browsers let you clear cookies and site data (including local storage) for a single website or for all websites.
  • Block cookies or third-party storage in your browser settings.
  • Use private or incognito browsing, which clears storage when you close the window.
  • Use a privacy extension or content blocker, which may block analytics and some third-party content.

Your browser's help pages explain how to do this. If you block or clear essential storage, you will be signed out and some features may not work.

8. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when we change the storage or services we use, and we will publish the updated version on this page with a new effective date.

If you have questions about this policy, please contact us at info@installpass.com, or contact our Information Officer, our Information Officer, at info@installpass.com. For more about how we handle personal information, see our Privacy policy.
